Deryck Chan was originally from Hong Kong, moved to England in 2007, began attended London meetups in 2009 and joined Wikimedia UK in 2010. He was also a member of Wikimedia Hong Kong from 2007 to 2017.

He studied at Magdalene College, Cambridge and presided w:Wikipedia:Cambridge University Wikipedia Society. He currently works as a civil engineer and a regular attendee of Cambridge Wikimedia meetups.
