Looking at the next five years – a day workshop on the future of Wikimedia UK[edit source]

There's a sign up section on the event talk page. If you have a particular preference about work shops you want to attend, you might want to add you name to the relevant lists. Richard Nevell (WMUK) (talk) 16:10, 20 March 2013 (UTC)

Great to meet you[edit source]

Hi Chmee2: thanks for your contributions to the workshop yesterday. It's great to have you involved, and your user page lists some very interesting past and present activity. Cheers, MartinPoulter (talk) 12:38, 24 March 2013 (UTC)

Hi Martin. Thank you for message and also for preparation of Education workshop at the meeting. I am glad that I have the opportunity take insight about your activities in WMUK, learn something new and share our knowledges. Hopefully see you soon in future meetings. Best regards --Chmee2 (talk) 12:58, 24 March 2013 (UTC)

letter to Camden Council[edit source]

Hello Chmee2 :)

I'm more than happy to make contact with you to find out about access to the London catacombs. I may make some minor edits to the text (and sign it from myself perhaps as it's going to be from my email). Do you have any contact details for the person? Thank you. Stevie Benton (WMUK) (talk) 15:24, 4 April 2013 (UTC)

Hi Stevie, feel free to edit the text. I do not know more details, I found this person as contact one during browsing their webpages. I am sure that he/she will forward to the right person if this one is not :) The same problem will be with other email to Networkrail, only web-page form is available :( Regards --Chmee2 (talk) 16:00, 4 April 2013 (UTC)

Members newsletter - microgrant piece?[edit source]

Hey there! Pleased to see your microgrant application was approved and looking forward to seeing some of the photos :)

How would you feel about writing a short piece for the monthly members newsletter this month? The bad news - it's about 200 words and I'd need it by next Friday if possible? The good news - featuring successful applications like yours might encourage other members to come forward and make an application to support photography work, which would be brilliant :-)

Let me know if that's ok? On here or emailing is fine :D Katherine Bavage (WMUK) (talk) 10:06, 11 April 2013 (UTC)

Hi Katherine, thanks for your interest and message. I think it is great idea to write short story and share it with other members, honestly, I was planning prepare some short report too. However, I think it will be better wait about one month with the story. In this time I will have some results which might be published and which can be more inspiring than just "successful application". Show to the people, than even with several dozens of "bugs" one can make a big story. So do not be mad at me and we'll discuss the story in a month, OK? :) Best regards --Chmee2 (talk) 11:12, 11 April 2013 (UTC)
Grrrr! Argghh!! No, of course I'm not mad at you, it's great that you're happy to do it for next month :D I'll get in touch again in mid-May! Thank you! Katherine Bavage (WMUK) (talk) 13:59, 11 April 2013 (UTC)
Chmee2! How's it going? Are you still up for writing a short piece for the May members newsletter? Let me know if so? :-)
Hi Katherine, yes, of course. What is the deadline for it and how long it might be? Regards --Chmee2 (talk) 14:19, 22 May 2013 (UTC)
Awesome! Can you do 200 or so words by next Wednesday? Please include a picture you think best sums up what you got out of the microgrant, and things to think about talking about could be why you applied, if you found applying easy, what you achieved with it, how that fits into your previous editing work, what you hope to do next...and so on! But it really is up to you :) Are you happy to email your draft (as she'll be putting together the copy this month)? Katherine Bavage (WMUK) (talk) 14:23, 22 May 2013 (UTC)

Wheelchair racer during 2013 London Marathon

Be new in the town. That’s always difficult because you don’t know your neighborhood, where to go for shopping, for culture, for sports and much more. However how to get familiar with your new temporary home? One of the best ways is just browsing through streets and looking around. However this might be even improved to support Wikipedia too! One cans easily browse streets with digital camera, photographing and upload images to Wikimedia Commons to help Wikimedia movement.

This is exactly my case. I am new in London and I decided to explore this town more deeply. Therefore I was requested about small travel grant from WMUK to help cover my travel expenses. This allows me freely move through the London, photographed wide range of places in high resolution and therefore enriched Wikimedia Commons. Till end of May, I have done it 6 trips which cost £15.5 with more than 600+ images. Two images were already evaluated as featured pictures on Wikimedia Commons and four as Quality images. As you can see, one can help map the city in which he lives with minimum costs.

This grant allowed me explore partly London and learned more about rich history. You might take this unique chance too and see your town from new perspective. Just get inspired and apply for similar WMUK microgrant focusing on your town! --Chmee2 (talk) 11:25, 26 May 2013 (UTC)

Wikimedia UK blog?[edit source]

Hi Chmee2, I hope you're well. You seem to be achieving great things with your microgrant, which is excellent. I was wondering if you'd like to write a short report for the Wikimedia UK blog? It would be lovely to be able to share your work with a wider audience and encourage more microgrant applications while showing off some of your wonderful photographs. Do let me know if this is something you would be keen to do. Thanks! Stevie Benton (WMUK) (talk) 11:05, 3 July 2013 (UTC)

Hi Stevie Benton, thank you for your post. Yes, I was thinking about the same before too and honestly my first thoughts were published on the Foundation blog (but of course, it might be published on both!). My original issue was write more in general "how (micro)grant(s) works in WMUK" as inspiration worldwide for other chapters and what I was doing in my microgrant during my stay. The only doubt is if write to post now or later in August when the microgrant will be (most probable) definitely over and all results will be on the "table".
But OK, let's write it now in upcoming weeks. The only question which has to be solved is, write just about the microgrant itself for WMUK blog or as a my lesson for Foundation blog (or write just one post for both?).
Regards --Chmee2 (talk) 12:04, 3 July 2013 (UTC)
Thank you for your speedy reply :) I think one post covering both things would be great! There's no deadline so whenever you are happy to write something, that would be perfect. Thank you for your help! Stevie Benton (WMUK) (talk) 12:25, 3 July 2013 (UTC)
